The winter transfer market proves to be a period of intense speculation and possible big-money moves. Several high-profile stars find themselves connected to transfers out of their present teams. We examine a selection of the top figures that are poised to be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the AFCON, which has left the forward in contention, reports suggest an important transfer is close. This Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a sizeable release clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Latest reports indicate Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former interested parties like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a late move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a summer move to Anfield collapsing. With his contract set to expire in the summer, January is the club's final chance to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. Numerous top sides, including City and multiple European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a January exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has had first-team minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, he has started only a small number of Premier League games. It is understood the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the right price, believed to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally showing an interest.

R. Neves

The Portuguese midfielder could be set for a comeback to the English top flight following a period in Saudi Arabia. Now only twenty-eight, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

This veteran German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona under new coach Flick. After lost his place and undergone surgery, a winter exit seems highly probable. Aston Villa were once linked as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing curiosity in the keeper.

The proven English striker has kept scoring regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could enhance his dwindling chances of being in the England squad. But, securing a deal presents significant challenges. His current club do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. With his existing contract nearing its end, many English clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but are in a race to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is widely tipped to complete a big-money move in January. Newcastle United reportedly are frontrunners, but are facing strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
