Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
